Bringing Stability Back into your Family's Life and Managing Autistic Meltdowns

Bringing Stability Back into your Family's Life and Managing Autistic Meltdowns

Growing up, we didn’t hear much about Autism or other disabilities, and children who had them were often left without the resources they needed to succeed. I’m so grateful to live in a time where things are different, and that we can raise awareness in April as National Autism Acceptance Month!

As I’ve talked to moms and dads about the joys and challenges that autism brings, probably the most disruptive to life are the occurrence of autistic meltdowns. These shouldn’t be confused with temper tantrums you might see happen with other kids. During an AM, the nervous system gets overloaded. They’re how a person’s (child or adult) body reacts physically to involuntary activities within the brain and nervous system.

Whitney is the mother of Eli, who has a non-verbal form of autism. Take a moment to listen to her experience in using the Rezzimax Tuner in calming her son’s nervous system and helping to pull him out of these meltdowns. It’s made a huge change in their family’s lives! Stay tuned for our next video where Whitney walks us through how she uses the Tuner with Eli and his Autism. Here are her words:

"Hi! I'm Whitney. I have a son, Eli. He's four now, and he has severe non-verbal autism. We've been seeing Doctor Crawford in Austin. One of the very first things he told me about was the Rezzimax.
I didn't realize its full potential until, actually, my mom suggested it. She said, “If he's upset and having a meltdown, he needs sensory input.” Because he bangs his head constantly.
Finally one day he was having a meltdown and I just started vibrating his whole left side. Very quickly he calmed down, which is crazy and super exciting for us, and rare because we have not found anything that works to shorten a meltdown and avoid a meltdown.
Sometimes they can be hours where it's just kind of ongoing and we'll just say he's in a meltdown and it's literally just like, a switch flips. We say Eli's not there.
We help bring Eli back with the Rezzimax. Using the Rezzimax, we've gotten it down to a minute, but the fact that I can even say that it's minutes, or less than ten minutes is huge and life changing."

Whitney's Rezzipe for Managing an Autistic Meltdown

In this second video, Whitney shares the technique that she's developed when they notice the warning signs of an impending meltdown (distractibility):

  1. Work mostly on the left side of the body to compensate for right brain deficiency typically found in autism.
  2. Start by scraping the hands with the Tuner.
  3. Place the Tuner in the patient's left hand and assist in scraping down the left side of the spine.
